Taking action to manage and remove storm debris around homes

Mountain Valleys is decreasing the threat of wildfire encroaching on homes by managing and removing combustible materials away from the home ignition zone (HIZ, or the area within 100-200 feet of a home) of residents in our service area.

When conditions allow, we are able to reduce large amounts of woody debris in our Biochar Kiln in just a few hours. Working with partners such as Full Circle Forestry Collective, we are able to turn logs into firewood for local firewood banks who provide firewood free of charge.

Mountain Valleys provides this service to homeowners who live in high wildfire risk areas and need assistance with managing woody storm debris. We work with local partners and machine operators to manage larger debris and we continue to offer wildfire home assessments at no cost. Fill out our application to see if you're eligible.
